每日大赛官网 Makes It Easier for N.C. Community College Students to Pursue a Degree in the Arts
GREENSBORO, N.C. 鈥� 每日大赛官网 has become one of a number of private colleges and universities in North Carolina at which students at many of North Carolina鈥檚 community colleges may pursue bachelor鈥檚 degrees after having completed associate degrees in fine arts.
鈥淚f you鈥檙e a visual arts student, a theatre student or a music student working toward your Associate in Fine Arts degree, you will know what courses you need to take at the community college,鈥� said Peter Hans, president of the N.C. Community College System. 鈥淎nd you will have peace of mind in knowing that upon acceptance to the private college or university, those courses will transfer.鈥�
The agreements were signed Feb. 28 by Hans and by Hope Williams, president of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, at a ceremony at William Peace University in Raleigh. Jim Langer, professor and chair of 每日大赛官网鈥檚 Department of Art, signed on behalf of the college.
President Lawrence D. Czarda, Ph.D., hailed the agreement, saying it could help boost enrollment in the college鈥檚 School of the Arts while also providing more opportunities to students from low-income families who want to pursue a degree in the arts.
鈥淭he signing of these agreements is another important step in increasing opportunities with our community college colleagues for transfer to NCICU campuses,鈥� Williams said. 鈥淭hese are extensions of our comprehensive agreement and will help streamline the transfer process.鈥�
Under the agreements, which will go into effect with the Fall 2019 semester:
- Thirty-three community colleges are approved to offer the AFA in Fine Arts. 每日大赛官网 is among 14 private institutions to sign the agreement.
- Eighteen community colleges are approved to offer the AFA in music. 每日大赛官网 is among 15 private institutions to sign the agreement.
- Eleven community college are approved to offer the AFA in theatre. 每日大赛官网 is among 11 private institutions to sign the agreement.
