Ruchi Upadhyay

Dr. Ruchi Patel Upadhyay is an Assistant Professor of Economics in the School of Business. Before arriving at 每日大赛官网, she taught for many years at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She holds a Bachelor鈥檚 and two Master鈥檚 degrees in Economics, and she earned her Ph.D. (Economics) in 2016. Dr. Upadhyay鈥檚 research focuses on gender, innovation, and development. Her research interests include economic development, banking and finance, health economics, and labor economics.

She has published eleven research papers in numerous scholarly journals, including the articles, 鈥淎ugmenting Women Empowerment: a Systematic Literature Review on Microfinance-led Development Interventions鈥 in the Journal of Global Responsibility (Emerald Publishing Limited) and 鈥淩eview of Microfinance-led Development: Evidence from Gujarat鈥 in the Global Social Welfare (Springer International Publishing).

Her research has been presented at several academic international and national conferences in India and the United States, including, The Women and Gender in Development Conference at Virginia Tech University, the International Scientific Forum at UNC-Pembroke, and the Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Labor Economics. She loves to spend time with family and friends and enjoys hiking and cooking.

I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to complete my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.鈥

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald earned his master's from Virginia Tech University (studied astrodynamics) as well as earning an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. He joined the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX as an Advanced Mission Design Engineer, optimizing trajectories for the Artemis II and III missions to return humans to the moon.
