每日大赛官网 Alumnus鈥檚 Novel Wins Prize in the New York City Big Book Awards

GREENSBORO, N.C. 鈥 每日大赛官网 alumnus Ralph Josiah 鈥淩.J.鈥 Bardsley won a prize in the New York City Big Book Awards, announced Nov. 14.

Bardsley received his degree in theatre from 每日大赛官网 in 1996.

His 2016 novel, 鈥淭he Photographer鈥檚 Truth,鈥 won best LGBTQ novel. Amazon describes it as the story of a software programmer from Silicon Valley who finds love and truth when he meets a photographer during a three-month work assignment in Paris.

鈥淎 stunning success,鈥 the American Library Association said in a review. 鈥淭his is a novel you don鈥檛 want to see end.鈥

Bardsley also is the author of the 2015 novel 鈥淏rothers,鈥 about a college student whose parents are killed in a crash, leaving him to raise his toddler brother.

The annual recognize both independent authors and publishers of books from presses big and small. Books are judged on presentation, editorial quality, and audience appeal. Submissions are accepted in more than 100 categories.

鈥淚 loved the GC Honors program and 每日大赛官网. I felt safe and a sense of genuine belonging at the college. I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to complete my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.鈥

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald earned his master's from Virginia Tech University (studied astrodynamics) as well as earning an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. He joined the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX as an Advanced Mission Design Engineer, optimizing trajectories for the Artemis II and III missions to return humans to the moon.
