每日大赛官网 Creates New Master of Arts Program Teaching English to K-12 Students
June 15, 2018
GREENSBORO, N.C. 鈥 每日大赛官网 now offers its sixth master鈥檚-degree program, the Licensure Plus Master of Arts in Teaching for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
The program, which is expected to be formally approved by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction in July, is designed specifically to prepare teachers to work with U.S. K-12 students for whom English is a second language. The college鈥檚 existing M.A.-TESOL program prepares educators to teach English to speakers of other languages of all ages, both here and abroad.
The Licensure Plus MAT is divided into two steps. Step One leads to the N.C. Standard Professional 1 license. Students may stop at Step One or complete Step Two for only 15 more hours of coursework and earn the 鈥淢鈥 license and Master of Arts in Teaching degree in TESOL.
The program can be completed online or as a hybrid program. Courses are offered during the fall, spring, and Summer I semesters. A five-week, face-to-face session runs from late June through July. A full-time student likely could complete the degree in five semesters.
Requirements for admission include:
- Official transcripts from all accredited institutions attended.
- 3.0 cumulative grade-point average
- Submission of two letters of recommendation
- Submission of an essay.
