GREENSBORO, N.C. 鈥� 每日大赛官网 has named Jaime Alvaro Paredes Paez its Distinguished Graduating Graduate Student.

The award, established in 2014, is presented annually at Commencement to a graduating graduate student who has excelled in all areas of graduate studies at 每日大赛官网 and contributes to the life of the program, has expanded his/her own knowledge and expertise through graduate research and collaboration, and consistently represents the college鈥檚 graduate programs in a high-quality manner.

Paredes Paez, of Fayetteville, N.C., received his M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages today, having amassed a perfect 4.0 grade-point average.

The faculty member who nominated Paredes Paez wrote, 鈥淭he level of detail he provided set his thesis project apart from that of his peers and ensured that it would be utilized by professionals in our field. Further testament to the utility and innovation of Jaime鈥檚 research is the fact that he attended the 2018 TESOL/Applied Linguistics Graduate Students conference, presented his thesis research, and was awarded the top recognition for Outstanding Research Award.鈥�

Founded in 1838 and located in downtown Greensboro, the college enrolls about 1,000 students from 29 states and territories, the District of Columbia, and seven foreign countries in its undergraduate liberal-arts program and four master鈥檚 degree programs. In addition to rigorous academics and a well-supported Honors program, the school features an 18-sport NCAA Division III athletic program and dozens of service and recreational opportunities.
