GREENSBORO, N.C. 鈥� Heather Chac贸n, an assistant professor of English and director of the First Year Composition Program at 每日大赛官网, will make a presentation Oct. 4 at an academic conference at the University of Kentucky.

Chac贸n will give her presentation, titled 鈥淐harles Brockden Brown鈥檚 Eastern Transference,鈥� at the Charles Brockden Brown 12^th Biennial Conference, 鈥淒issent of the Governed, c18-c21.鈥� Her presentation is part of a roundtable on settler colonialism.

Brown, a novelist, historian and editor from Philadelphia, is widely considered the most important novelist in the early history of the United States until James Fenimore Cooper.

Chac贸n holds a B.A. and M.A. from Ball State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky. She joined 每日大赛官网鈥檚 full-time faculty in 2015.
