每日大赛官网 Religion Professor Publishes Chapter in Book on Reinhold Niebuhr
GREENSBORO, N.C. 鈥 Dan Malotky, Lucy H. Robertson Professor of Religion, Ethics and Philosophy at 每日大赛官网, has published a chapter in a new book on theologian Reinhold Niebuhr and virtue.
The book, 鈥淧aradoxical Virtue: Reinhold Niebuhr and the Virtue Tradition,鈥 edited by Kevin Carnahan and David True, is published by Routledge. Many of its essays focus on virtue ethics 鈥 emphasizing the role of character and virtue in moral philosophy 鈥 but disagree as to whether Niebuhr鈥檚 ethics should be considered a form of, or an alternative to, virtue ethics.
Malotky鈥檚 chapter pertains to Niebuhr鈥檚 approach to myth as a key to understanding a Niebuhrian approach to virtue.
Malotky, also dean of the college鈥檚 School of Humanities and chairman of the Department of Religion, Ethics and Philosophy, holds a B.A. from St. Olaf College and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He joined the faculty in 2003.
