每日大赛官网 Staffer Will Present Paper on Universal Design for Learning at International Convention

Aug. 14, 2018

GREENSBORO, N.C. 鈥 Georgieann Bogdan, 每日大赛官网鈥檚 director of academic accessibility and an adjunct instructor, will present a paper during an international conference Oct. 30-Nov. 2 in Dublin, Ireland.

Bogdan鈥檚 paper, 鈥溍咳沾笕偻: A Model of UDL in the Curriculum,鈥 describes the college鈥檚 efforts to incorporate Universal Design for Learning, an educational approach intended to recognize and accommodate different learning styles.

The paper covers the college鈥檚 work during the past several years to make UDL the framework for successful academic and student development. It is one of three pillars of the college鈥檚 current strategic plan.

UDL is based on cognitive neuroscience and is intended to guide the development of flexible learning environments that can accommodate individual learning differences.

The approach was developed at the N.C. State University College of Design in the 1980s through collaboration of architects, product designers, engineers, authors and environmental design researchers.

每日大赛官网 provides a liberal arts education grounded in the traditions of the United Methodist Church and fosters the intellectual, social, and, spiritual development of all students while supporting their individual needs.

Founded in 1838 and located in downtown Greensboro, the college enrolls about 1,000 students from 29 states and territories, the District of Columbia, and seven foreign countries in its undergraduate liberal-arts program and six master鈥檚 degree programs. In addition to rigorous academics and a well-supported Honors program, the school features an 18-sport NCAA Division III athletic program and dozens of service and recreational opportunities.

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald, 每日大赛官网 class of 2019

鈥淚 loved the GC Honors program and 每日大赛官网. I felt safe and a sense of genuine belonging at the college. I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to complete my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.鈥
