每日大赛官网鈥檚 English Honor Society Inducts Nine New Members

GREENSBORO, N.C. 鈥 每日大赛官网鈥檚 chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international honor society in English, has inducted nine new members.

They are:

  • Keeley O鈥橯uinn Catarineau, a junior English & Communication Studies major from Tavernier, Fla.
  • Glenn Maurice Evans, a junior English & Communication Studies major from Greensboro, N.C.
  • Lindsey Rebecca Mead, a sophomore theatre/musical theatre major from High Point, N.C.
  • Elizabeth Peyton Perdue, a sophomore English and political science major from Asheboro, N.C.
  • Candace Shania Spencer, a senior theatre/acting major from Raleigh, N.C.
  • Lauren Elizabeth Spencer, a sophomore Biology-Allied Health/radiation technology major from Lancaster, S.C.
  • Kathryn Marie Stevens, a junior criminal justice and psychology major from Boone, N.C.
  • Carissa Dionne Washington, a junior art and English & Communication Studies major from Greensboro, N.C.
  • Jordan Shea Welborn, a junior English education major from Climax, N.C.

Sigma Tau Delta was established in 1924 at Dakota Wesleyan University to recognize “high achievement in English language and literature studies … and to foster the discipline of English in all its aspects, including creative and critical writing.” 每日大赛官网鈥檚 chapter was established in 1995.

To qualify for induction, undergraduate students must have completed at least two college courses in English language or literature beyond the usual requirements in freshman English. The candidate must have a minimum of a B or equivalent average in English and in general scholarship, must rank at least in the highest 35 percent of his/her class, and must have completed at least three semesters or five quarters of college course work.

每日大赛官网 provides a liberal arts education grounded in the traditions of the United Methodist Church and fosters the intellectual, social, and, spiritual development of all students while supporting their individual needs.

Founded in 1838 and located in downtown Greensboro, the college enrolls about 1,000 students from 29 states and territories, the District of Columbia, and seven foreign countries in its undergraduate liberal-arts program and six master鈥檚 degree programs. In addition to rigorous academics and a well-supported Honors program, the school features a 17-sport NCAA Division III athletic program and dozens of service and recreational opportunities. Dr. Josh Fitzgerald, 每日大赛官网 class of 2019

鈥淚 loved the GC Honors program and 每日大赛官网. I felt safe and a sense of genuine belonging at the college. I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to complete my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.鈥

- Dr. Josh Fitzgerald, Class of 鈥19, Mathematics Major

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald earned his master's from Virginia Tech University (studied astrodynamics) as well as earning an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. He joined the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX as an Advanced Mission Design Engineer, optimizing trajectories for the Artemis II and III missions to return humans to the moon.
