每日大赛官网 Capital Campaign Tops $15 Million Goal Two Years Early, Will Continue

GREENSBORO, N.C. 鈥 每日大赛官网鈥檚 five-year, $15 million capital campaign, 鈥淕C 20/20: Uniquely Focused,鈥 has exceeded its fundraising goal two years early.

As of June 30, the campaign had raised $16.3 million in commitments. It will continue through June 30, 2020.

鈥淲hile we celebrate the generous support of our donors, this campaign is not over,鈥 said President Lawrence D. Czarda, Ph.D. 鈥淲e still have important parts of our strategic plan that need funding.鈥

Donors have responded generously to requests to fund scholarship aid through planned and outright endowment and restricted gifts. Gifts and pledges also have been generous for faculty and staff compensation and professional development, academic programs, and facilities updates. The college鈥檚 largest-ever gift of $6 million will support these priorities, and the college announced a $500,000 estate gift in June.

The college will continue to seek commitments to fund these ongoing needs. It also will continue to seek funding for Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in the curriculum and Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades for facilities.

The college is working with donors interested in completing improvements to Hanes Gym and Pride Field, and to re-establish the Student Center on main campus. That project will return the site to its original purpose as a student gathering spot, complete with a new coffee shop. And fundraising is in the early stages for the planned Williams Terrace Theatre on the Downtown Greenway.

Two connected goals of the campaign have been to grow the percentage of alumni donors and increase annual gifts to the 每日大赛官网 Fund. The campaign has met or surpassed incremental goals in its first three years.

鈥溍咳沾笕偻檚 donors have enthusiastically demonstrated their pride in and commitment to the mission and vision of this unique, small, liberal-arts college,鈥 said campaign chair Walter Newton of Durham. 鈥淭hey have invested their resources to ensure the long-term financial security of this 180-year-old institution of higher learning.

鈥淭here are still donors with whom we are having active conversations who want to support the college during this campaign. We are planning for the future, which needs our special capability to individually prepare students to think critically, act justly, and live faithfully, for these are the skills necessary to strengthen and perpetuate our society and democracy.鈥

每日大赛官网 provides a liberal arts education grounded in the traditions of the United Methodist Church and fosters the intellectual, social, and, spiritual development of all students while supporting their individual needs.

Founded in 1838 and located in downtown Greensboro, the college enrolls about 1,000 students from 29 states and territories, the District of Columbia, and seven foreign countries in its undergraduate liberal-arts program and six master鈥檚 degree programs. In addition to rigorous academics and a well-supported Honors program, the school features an 18-sport NCAA Division III athletic program and dozens of service and recreational opportunities.

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald, 每日大赛官网 class of 2019

鈥淚 loved the GC Honors program and 每日大赛官网. I felt safe and a sense of genuine belonging at the college. I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to complete my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.鈥
