Pride Pantry

A supplemental food resource for all 每日大赛官网 students.

No student should ever have to choose between focusing on their studies and meeting their basic needs. That鈥檚 why Pride Pantries exist鈥攖o provide free, accessible food and personal care items right where you need them, on campus.

Pride Pantry Locations

We have four pantries located all around campus and are able to be used freely by anybody:

  • Pride Pantry Headquarters (in the Student Center, across the Pride Shop)
  • Greensboro Hall Lobby (across from the Student Health Center)
  • Global Communications Center (in the kitchen area)
  • West Hall Lobby (in the lounge and study area)

Common Items in the Pantry

Each pantry has a variety of food and personal hygiene products. Listed below, but not limited to, is a short list of what you could find in the pantries:

  • Snacks
  • Mac & cheese
  • Instant Ramen
  • Minute Rice
  • Oatmeal
  • Canned meats, vegetables, and soups
  • Shampoo and soap
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste
  • Sanitary pads
  • Tampons

The pantries are restocked on a consistent basis. We are trying our best to maximize our resources and funds to make the Pride Pantries as efficient and as sustainable as possible. In an event where the pantries are not sufficiently stocked, please come to the Pride Pantry Headquarters for access to a wider variety of items. We appreciate your patience with us!

Volunteer for the Pride Pantry!

Volunteering for the Pride Pantry is one of the best ways to get involved with the 每日大赛官网 community and have something meaningful in your resume, something that truly makes you stand out.

Our organization has been involved in many food insecurity-related campus-wide and state-wide efforts, with most notably our participation during the 2023 and 2024 NC Hunger Challenges. In both years, we came away with the first place grand prize of $10,000 in competition against many notable North Carolina collegiate campuses.

Being a part of the Pride Pantry Team is an honor and a privilege. We are always looking for people to join us in the fight against food insecurity. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact rbrewer@greensboro.edu.

Frequently Asked Questions
  1. Do I need to demonstrate need?听听

All 每日大赛官网 students, faculty, and staff are welcome here. We do not require that you disclose information about your financial status to Pantry staff in order to enter. We understand that food insecurity can happen to anyone at any time, and we do not want to create barriers to entry.

In fact, college students have a demonstrated need for food assistance: that is why the Pride Pantry exists. A recent from the Government Accountability Office found that nearly 1 in 4 college students (23%) experience food insecurity. Because of this, and more, we encourage students to seek the resources they need without contempt or judgement.

  1. Is there a limit to how much we can take?听听

We do not create limits on our guests. Instead, we ask guests to take what would hold them over until their next pantry visit or their next trip to a grocery store. This is a shared space, with shared resources, but we want guests to feel comfortable taking what they need.

  1. I want to donate food or hygiene products. How do I do that?听听

You can donate supplies to our Pride Pantry Headquarters, located in the Student Center on the first floor. You can check the hours posted on our webpage or check for the 鈥淥pen Today鈥 sign in front of the Student Center.

If Headquarters are closed, there are also white donation boxes with the Pride Pantry logo located in Odell and the Global Communication Center in the Library basement. You can donate any shelf-stable foods, and we will periodically bring them to Headquarters.

  1. What鈥檚 the form for?听听听

We ask guests to complete a form answering simple questions about themselves. The form helps us record the needs of the people coming into the pantry, and we use that data to apply for grants that sustain the Pantry. We also maintain record of the quantity of guests who use the Pantry Headquarters in order to keep the shelves fully stocked. Student volunteers will not have access to any demographic information. All information is purely to help the pantry demonstrate our impacts and services to donors.

  1. How can I help?听听

At the beginning of every year, we recruit a cohort of volunteers to work in the Pride Pantry Headquarters, restock the lockers, and provide additional services. When our cohort is full, you can donate to our , organize a food drive through a student organization, or attend periodic volunteer events throughout the semester.

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald, 每日大赛官网 class of 2019

鈥淚 loved the GC Honors program and 每日大赛官网. I felt safe and a sense of genuine belonging at the college. I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to complete my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.鈥
